Dr. B S Valke has been a writer and Educational
Consultant for ZLS. His basic expertise is in English language
and literature teaching. He has taught the UGC courses in
Functional English as well as Communicative English and had
an active role in the syllabus design of these courses. For
the last 38 years he has been teaching Phonetics and Phonology,
Advanced Grammar, Interactive Skills, Writing Skills and
Personality Development. He has also developed a keen interest
in Stylistics, Pragmatics, Semantics, Socio Linguistics,
Educational Linguistics, Materials Production and so on.
He has eight research articles to his credit and has actively
participated in national and international level conferences.
He also has a long experience of operating a language laboratory.
As the Chairman of the Board of Studies in English and
the Member of Academic Council, University of Pune, Dr
Valke was instrumental in bringing about drastic changes
in syllabuses, instructional materials, teaching methodology
and evaluation system. He has co-authored textbooks for
Pune University as well as several books for Yashwantrao
Chavan Maharashtra Open University.
Research has always been Dr Valke's interest. He has been
a Research Guide for M Phil and Ph D and a referee. So
far he has produced more than a dozen of Ph D's and half
a dozen M Phil's
A well known teacher trainer, a lively teacher and an
excellent human being Dr Valke is a strong advocate of
simple, direct and effective English.
